Workshop Details

Students can attend one of the following workshops.  Just make your selection on the registration form below!

Music Starts Here! with Rachel Hall 

Aimed at: Beginner musicians aged 4 -7

A taster session for our starter music course aimed at children aged 4-7.  Music Starts Here! is designed to encourage children to explore the joy of making music using  singing, rhythm and movement activities to establish an instinctive connection between what young musicians do with their hands, their voices, their eyes and their ears to make music.

Strings Workshop with Hannah Perowne, Rachel Hall and Ceri Peterson

Aimed at: All string players; beginners to advanced

A chance to work on String repertoire from complete beginners to advanced.  There will also be a short concert/presentation by the amazing String group, Custodial Sentence and opportunities to perform with your fellow musicians at all levels of learning.

Double Reeds Workshop with Alec Harmon, Fiona Beeston, Nick Williams and Guildhall Students

Aimed at: All double reed players

Whether you already play or are interested in finding out more, this is a fantastic opportunity to hear and work with professional double reed players form the Guildhall School.

Composition Workshop with David Stowell

Aimed at: Students aged 11 and over.

A composition workshop to include composition for film, games and TV.  Please bring your own laptop where possible and you can use any music software already installed.

Steinberg will provide a free copy of a version of Cubase which can then be kept.

Students will also need some scoring software e.g. Dorico or Sibelius. Musescore can be downloaded for free from musescore.com.

Guitar Workshop with James Boyd and Kit Cecconi

Aimed at: Beginners to advanced players

The workshop is open to all guitarists with a basic knowledge and offers a variety of styles.

Performance Skills Workshop with James Boyd     

Aimed at: Players aged 14 and above

Do you get nervous when asked to play in front of others? This session offers advice and support for anyone who wants to enjoy performance but would appreciate some tips on how to help you build your confidence.

Impro/Jazz/Fusion Workshop  with Ewan Duffus, Robert Dockray and Simon Limbrick    

Aimed at: Players aged 11 and above

A session combining composition, programming, sampling and improvisation using both electronic and acoustic instruments.

Saxophone Workshop with Anna Parker

Aimed at: Players Grade 1 and above

A chance to enjoy meeting other young Sax players and work with Saxology,  NCYM’s fab Sax ensemble!
